Whether you're scrapbooking or assembling an herbarium collection, a dedicated, proper flower press is a far more consistent way to preserve delicate flowers and plant materials, as a keepsake, specimen, or for use in your other craft projects.
We're all probably familiar with the method of using a book or journal to press flowers, and that certainly works in a pinch. But if you're serious about your pressed flowers and botanical preservation, a press will preserve flowers and plants faster, and more reliably, while the positive clamping pressure of wingnuts eliminates the risk of having your pressed flower slip out between pages and being damaged.
These handmade presses are a functional, durable, and beautiful way for you to create perfectly pressed memories and specimens, and their timeless looks will invite you to leave them out to appreciate as you patiently wait for your flower or plant to dry.

Each press includes 4 sheets of cardboard and 4 sheets of acid free blotting paper, pre cut to size so you can start using your press right away.
Always use corrugated cardboard on top, below, and in between layers of pressed flowers/plants. The cardboard layer is key to distributing even pressure across the press, and the corrugations allow for airflow and moisture to escape, drying your pressed flower faster, with less color loss, and less chance of mold growth.

When I dedicate time and effort to the craftsmanship of making something beautiful, using solid, high quality materials is the only way to make sure those efforts aren't wasted on something that is going to fall apart within a few years.
Solid brass hardware is highly durable, and will develop a unique patina with use over time. Functional things are meant to be used, and sometimes small parts get lost, so replaceability is important. Should you lose a piece of hardware, it can be easily replaced at any hardware store, as the #10-24 hardware is a standard size widely available.
Slightly oversized hardware holes allow for the natural seasonal expansion and contraction of the wood, ensuring that your press stays flat and applies even pressure through seasons and generations of use.
No plywood or particle board here.
Please expect (and be excited for!) some beautiful natural variation in the wood color, texture, and grain appearance. The samples pictured are intended to show the general appearance of each material and size, and the actual piece you receive will vary.
Wood is a natural material with natural variations like knots, color streaks, and grain figuring, so no two pieces look the same. This is especially true with species like Myrtle, which can be pigmented by soil minerals absorbed through different areas of the tree's root system, and even pieces cut from the same tree can look vastly different. Every piece is a unique distillation of the life and growth of the tree it came from.
As each piece is handmade and individually shaped from rough sawn lumber to a finished form, please also allow for some minor variation in size and finish details, up to approximately 1/4 inch from the listed size.
Please also note that the listed size is for the overall dimension of the flower press, and the size of flowers that can be pressed is slightly smaller in order to leave room for the hardware.
